PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Grand Central Terminal (“GCT”) Train Shed (“TS”) and Park Avenue Tunnel (“PAT”) Rehabilitation Program – Priority Repairs 7 is a continuation of the multi-phased, multi-program initiative to bring the GCT Train Shed and Park Avenue Tunnel to a State of Good Repair (SOGR). Following a comprehensive inspection, inventory, and documentation of deteriorated conditions, a Designer of Record is preparing repair packages to a 100% design level for Design-Bid-Build delivery, prioritizing the most severely deteriorated conditions. Repairs are expected to include reinforcement of existing steel girders, stringers, columns and their connections; repairs to deteriorated reinforced concrete slabs, decks, and vaults; repairs to crash walls and bearing walls; repairs of concrete spalls and cracks; and repointing of masonry stone walls.
The Construction Contract is anticipated to be awarded in the fourth quarter of 2026, with the Consultant supporting procurement and managing the contractor through construction and closeout.
IVY Engineering Group (IVY) is providing an Inspector and Office Engineer on behalf of MTA C&D, supporting prioritization and packaging of repairs, contractor oversight, and progress documentation through construction and closeout.
